Warrens candidacy struck an all-too-familiar note for many as hopes faded for a highly qualified contender: What more could she have done?https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/mar/21/elizabeth-warren-young-women-us-elections
After boasting one of the most diverse fields of candidates in recent history, Democrats are left to choose between the Vermont senator Bernie Sanders and the former vice-president Joe Biden two white men in their late 70s.
For women, the blow has been particularly hard.
With the congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard leaving the race on Thursday, the final woman has exited from a contest that once included senators Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar and Kirsten Gillibrand, plus the health guru Marianne Williamson. Together the six women represented the left and center lanes of the party, spanned the nation from Hawaii to Massachusetts and hailed from the private sector as well as public life. They were young, old and in between.
For many Democratic women it was the failure of the Warren campaign that has hit especially hard.

(14,118 posts)Hillary in the 2016 primary and general elections. Count me in as being a part of the group that's not
encouraged by what's going on. To focus on the disappointment of any given gender group is not an
inclusive action... but then we all know that, right?
There's a lot that needs to be done to straighten out our social and political life and we'll do more to accomplish that if we all work TOGETHER!

(82,383 posts)All the women who ran! And so many in the Senate and House. I recall a time when there were only 4 female Senators. And since then, my state had a female governor and now our first woman House Representative. And we will have a woman as VP as long as we beat that Orange Idiot.

(48,699 posts)worked hard to be judged on the merit. Did not want to be treated preferentially because of their gender and their co workers and bosses appreciated it and they were handsomely rewarded.
We had a woman nominee in 2016 so why the disappointment?
Warren did not speak to the majority of the voters just as Sanders did not.

(402 posts)I spoke with (college age) were supporting Sanders. And I spoke with several in 2016 who didnt like Clinton. I feel disappointed in the lack of understanding and realization of the obstacles women face, coming from younger women. As a woman, I actually feel more support/understanding from many gen x men. Is this just my social circle?
