He won't stand a chance--none of us will--under another 4 years of tRump and McConnell.
Also, does he really think Bernie is going to run for president again?

9. It's hard to reason with them because
Fri Mar 27, 2020, 06:38 AM
Mar 2020

too many of them aren't pragmatic which makes practical retorts very difficult. It's either their way or it doesn't matter if everything burns to the ground

Attempts to reason with them that I've seen fail:
- Would they rather see Trump getting elected: They see no difference between Biden and Trump because of their naive binary thinking
- Do you prefer Trump appointing the next 2-3 SC judges: Again, no difference because of Clarence Thomas and Biden voting for some picks of Repub presidents back in a time when not politicizing that process was the norm. This is below child-like thinking by them, they don't realize the power behind being the one who nominates the candidate.
- Obamacare under attack by Repubs: They don't care, anything but Medicare for all isn't an option.

primary today, I would vote for:

10. Maybe this "Sometimes practicality is the only answer...
Fri Mar 27, 2020, 07:27 AM
Mar 2020

even in politics and idealism must take a backseat."

This arguement made sense to me. I was a Bernie supporter in 2916 (voted for Hilary, of course) and I think
he could actually have beat orange-face then, but this time around is different. Don-the-Con's support is more ingrained now, Faux Neus is all in and raring to go and support for Bernie isn't as widespread as in 2016. Back then, there were people who would have voted for Bernie, but not for Hilary and they voted for Don-the-Con. Now there are many people (disaffected republicans, former Hilary supporters and others) who won't vote for either Bernie or Donnie, but who will vote for Biden, making him the safer bet to win back the Country.

It could be a close thing in any case and risking the country's future on idealistic goals, right or wrong, is not facing reality.

One more point... Faux Neus is completely ready to go with a "Save us from Communism" schtick to use against Bernie. Right before Super Tuesday I caught a glimpse of their programming and they were running quasi documentaries on the evils of communism, of Stalin and Mao, no less. Biden won and I haven't seen or heard anything like it again. If Bernie had won big then, I'm sure that would have been just the beginning of the Anti-Commie campaign they were going to run with. All of us on the left would have found it comical, but it would have been scarily effective with the simple souls of the right.

And walk away? This is from The Economist.

Ambitious, exhilarated and a little nervous, a freshly elected Democratic congressman was buzzing with the possibilities of his new office when he first encountered Bernie Sanders. “You do realise this place is a complete waste of time, don’t you?” growled the independent senator from Vermont, by way of welcome to Capitol Hill. And, to be fair to Mr Sanders—and to the millions of Americans who set such great store by his integrity and plain speaking—he could not have summed up his own legislative history better.

Your words won’t work. Try facts. Have them take a look at Biden’s campaign website and they will see that Biden has incorporated a lot of Sanders’ ideas into his platform. When I saw that Biden was going to end the forever wars, that convinced me. No one’s mind is made up in one instant, but in a series of little events. Don’t bully, use facts. As the bodies pile up round this country your friend will see the light.

I think it’s so ridiculous to vote to keep Trump in office by wasting the power of one’s vote. I’m not sure there is a way to breakthrough that mindset. Life is too short to beg a Bernie supporter. Ugh, even thinking about it makes me nauseous.
