(12,347 posts)He wrote one essay about gender norms which began with with a shocking opening to grab reader's attention. It may have been a bad idea, but he did not write a series of rape fantasies. You can read the entire essay here:

it starts about half way down the page.

(96,043 posts)You will find all sorts of luscious tit-bits.
My favorite was his declaration that 'the revolution' occurs when a young teenage girl ignores her mother's advice and goes ahead to have sex with her boyfriend.
His choice of 'raped by three men' as a prototypical fantasy of women says a good deal more about 'Bernie' than it does about women. There are plenty of other common fantasies people use to get themselves 'over the edge' on occasion with a familiar partner. Doubtless a few will suggest themselves to you. 'Secret Garden', by Nancy Friday, published not long after this production by 'Bernie' is full of them, and anyone with much experience would at the time have been aware of a range of things women fantasize about, from encounters with another woman to ordering a boyfriend about, to the proverbial 'zipless fuck' with a handsome stranger. He chose that fantasy, and you may note he goes on to claim tales of gang rape of pubescent girls were common fare in stag magazines of the time. They were not, they were not even a staple of 'true detective' magazines, which got pretty far 'out there' at times. It is clear 'Bernie' himself was obsessed with the subject of rape, and in fairly gaudy fashion to boot. The fantasy he leads off that article with, you may be sure, is his fantasy, and his practice --- masturbating while imagining a woman bound on her knees and abused. After which he proceeds to project this onto a fictional woman's mind, as her fantasy of gang-rape. He even projects his own fantasies out onto other men, imagining they mostly share his clear obsession with violent rape and sadistic bondage, else he would not claim such imaginings were common enough to be a staple of popular stag magazines. And that is without going into the age of his imagined victim....
"From Bernies perspective, dropping out of a race once you have no chance of winning is peculiar behavior that can only be explained by the work of a hidden hand. For most politicians, though, it is actually standard operating procedure. Only Sanders seems to think the normal thing to do once voters have made clear they dont want to nominate you is to continue campaigning anyway."
"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."

(11,217 posts)their core supporters' fundamental belief system, to create doubt and question loyalty to that public figure. Because Democrats take sexual abuse seriously, Biden's core supporters are particularly susceptible to such allegations. Trump's supporters would never respond to this, they'd just laugh it off and never give it another thought.

(3,853 posts)I think the Bernie supporters pushing the story know this it's crap but that won't stop them from whining and complaining that the MSM is not highlighting the story. I think most Dems are at the point that we expected this type of bogus attack and refuse to let it influence their support of Biden.

(17,760 posts)Heck, even looney toons Larry Sinclair knew better than to be a-Putin fanboy.
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/obama-accuser-larry-sincl_n_107900
The event began less than auspiciously for Mr. Sinclair who has gained Internet notoriety by spreading wild accusations regarding gay sex, drugs and possible murder committed by Barack Obama as National Press Club staff took pains to remove the associations logo from behind the podium where Sinclair was set to speak. (Politicos Ben Smith today detailed Sinclairs 27-year criminal record, with a specialty in crimes involving deceit.)
Of course, the club had made clear for some time that it should not be viewed as endorsing Mr. Sinclairs claims simply for having agreed to host his mind-numbingly preposterous litany heavens, no! All that could be said for the institution was that it was happy to rent out its space to anyone who might be willing to pay in order to switch on the microphone.
And pay Sinclair did for the venue and its microphone, as well as for a kilted lawyer (with a suspended license) named Montgomery Blair Sibley, who informed those assembled that his preferences in dress were arrived at as a way to secure comfort for his unusually large sexual organs. I dont know why men wear pants, he said with a poker face. Its a function of male genitalia. If youre size normal or smaller, youre probably comfortable with [pants]. ... Those at the other end of the spectrum find them quite confining.

So far, only Nina Turner of Bernie's big 3 has tweeted about it, but not on her main feed, only in Tweets and REplies and she passive-aggressively didn't make a statement, just threw some support Susan Sarandon's way.
How anyone can still support this campaign is beyond me. Tara Reade's story lacks so much credibility.

President Putin scares the power elite in America because he is a compassionate, caring, visionary leader. President Putin has higher approval ratings in America then the American President. President Putin is beloved by Russia and he not going anywhere. Instead of being ensnared in the recent political intrigues (and America is trying hard to set that trap). President Putin is keeping a calm focus on his own countrys development and future, without America.
To President Putin, I say keep your eyes to the beautiful future and maybe, just maybe America will come to see Russia as I do, with eyes of love. To all my Russian friends, happy holiday and Happy New Year.

Reade's article is one of the best I've seen in helping to understand the alt-left's (Stein, Gabbard, Greenwald, etc) warped Putin apologism. Reade spells it out where they merely dog whistle:
Our American empire is falling and failing, not because of some imagined threat from a foreign nation but because of our collective greed. Greed is what runs our economy and greed is what will destroy America.
...

(96,043 posts)Police officers laugh at the idea of a 'first offender' --- they believe this may be the first time someone is arrested, but that almost never is it the first time he or she broke the law, and far more often than not they are correct. Police know that people are creatures of habit, and behave consistently, doing again and again what they did before. It is unlikely a man would reach his late seventies without leaving a gaudy trail of such accusations clustered on his reputation, if this was the sort of thing he did. It's not the sort of thing a man does only once, especially a man in a position of some real power.

(34,857 posts)Because she certainly has.
She stated Biden fired her after she accused him in 1993 and yet, years ago, said she left on her own due to wanting a career change and her fascination with Russia.
She stated in a recent interview that she thought of going public when Biden was selected in 2008 but decided against it yet her tweets from 2017, on her own private twitter account, seem to suggest she wanted Biden to run in 2016. Kinda weird that she's been this devastated by it all these years, wanted to come forward in 2008 but then openly praised and supported him in 2017, posting tweets about how he should have run.
But most damning, imo, is that she politicized her apparent rape, teasing in tweets back in early March that her accusation would help Bernie, who she now supports.
Seems fishy all around.
There's a credibility issue here.

(3,814 posts)Reade somewhere along the line (perhaps due to online brainwashing) became steeped in alt-left ideology that is very pro-Putin and sees Dems as the root of all evil. IMO, it's similar to Roseanne Barr's transformation, from regular Dem to alt-left freak.
Reade's 'tic toc' tweets are revealing because it speaks to political calculation, and desire to prove herself to her alt-left comrades.
