A woman falsely accuses Joe Biden of sexual assault

Reade's story of what happened during her tenure working for Biden has changed over time. In April of 2019, Reade spoke to a local Nevada paper, claiming Biden "would touch me on the shoulder or hold his hand on my shoulder running his index finger up my neck during a meeting."

She also recounted an incident where she says she was told by staff that she had to serve drinks at a Biden event because he "liked my legs." She told Salon she rejected this request and complained directly to supervisors Marianne Baker and Dennis Toner. Reade says that her complaints led to being sidelined and pushed out of Biden's office. Both Baker and Toner denied to Salon ever having such a conversation with Reade.

Reade's April 2019 account of why she left Biden's office also conflicts with earlier things she has written. In a December 2018 Medium post she's since deleted, Reade wrote that she quit working for Biden to pursue a vocation in the arts and because she loves "Russia with all my heart" and rejected "the reckless imperialism of America" and what she saw as an anti-Russian view on Capitol Hill.

Before 2019, Reade lived under another name — she changed it for many years to escape an abusive husband, and provided the paperwork demonstrating this to Salon — and her public statements about Biden were entirely positive. After making her April 2019 allegations that Biden had touched her inappropriately, Reade spent months tweeting that story, dozens of times, at various figures — politicians, celebrities, media outlets, even Donald Trump — to no response.

While we might worry about participating in politics at a higher moral level, this is just the "perfect as the enemy of the good" framing of Biden's candidacy.

I never buy the "perfect as the enemy of the good" standard for Democrats, whether it's from our own DU members or the right wing.

This 'report' keeps making digital media rounds and is becoming filler for their news. Pandemic poppycock posting. Salon can go suck it.

I'll worry about fingers on a neck and shoulder touching when Disaster Donnie dares bring it up.

Which will be never.

Times have changed, and lots of people have come forward recently about allegations from long ago (see Harvey Weinstein). I would not want to dismiss a woman's claim because she didn't make it sooner or didn't make it at the time. So yeah, this seems bogus, but "where was she then" is not a response I'd go with.

In light of the whole situation, I don't believe her. More information could change my mind, but the Salon writer says she couldn't get the brother to talk to her, or Tara to name the friend she supposedly talked to.

It's rare, but a certain number of women do lie about these things. I haven't seen enough evidence that Tara is telling the truth, and there are some major red flags.

It explains the red flags that have been keeping the MSM from jumping on the Intercept story, including this -- which I've seen nowhere else:

Marcotte, the reporter, tried to get a confirmation out of the supposed witnesses to Reade's story -- her brother and her friend. The brother refused to speak with the reporter and Tara refused to give the name of her friend to Marcotte.

So there is nothing to this story except for Tara's constantly changing claims.

This is incorrect. Nina Turner tweeted an emojis to Ryan Grim, Krystal Ball, and Susan Sarandon with passive-aggressive emojis in response to their Kavanaugh questions—which were absolutely followups to their prior comments on Tara Reade.

So Nina absolutely weighed in. Here are the receipts. And the Berners on this site wonder why we get upset. This isn't just a case of Russian bots, though hopefully, nobody here will argue that Turner actually is a Russian bot like someone did on my Facebook.
