Say something positive about him. I'll start. He brought important issues like wage equality and lack of equal acces to medical care to the forefront.

(12,011 posts)I don't think anyone had ever managed that until 2016. Obama took some important steps in that direction, but Bernie was the first candidate to mount a serious challenge without closed door fundraisers, bundlers, or any corporate $. I'm proud to have supported him in 2016 and I'm proud of him for doing the right thing today.

(20,647 posts)Just look at how much the party platform has shifted, even if you're talking about going back to 2008. Look at the way that Joe was quick to adopt a number of Elizabeth Warren's specific plans to address several issues, and it would be intellectually dishonest to fail to acknowledge that her candidacy was the most direct "spin-off" of Bernie's 2016 campaign.

(1,736 posts)Health care is a human right.
Our future generations deserve more than a mountain of college debt before they enter a profession.
Wall Street extracts too much profit and privilege from outsized lobbying influence.
Without a strong majority of everyday people demanding change at the ballot box, oligarchy will continue to gain ground.
Red state America is being hoodwinked by the Republican leadership it votes for, and the right appeal can build support for real change.
Even without Bernie as a candidate, these conditions remain. Who will stand up tall and make real structural change happen? That's the question.
