Sanders defends 'Medicare for All' plan - Sixth Democratic debate

Dec 19, 2019

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. defended his “Medicare for All” single-payer proposal and said that as president, he’d introduce legislation during his first week in office. But he did not answer POLITICO debate moderator Tim Alberta’s question about whether he’d be willing to take smaller measures to expand coverage and decrease costs, should his plan, as constituted, lack the votes to pass Congress. Sanders is one of the seven Democrats vying for their party's 2020 presidential nomination who met on the stage for the sixth Democratic debate on Dec. 19, hosted by the PBS NewsHour and POLITICO.
