DU4 Questions & Answers
Related: About this forumIs there a forum list with just the forum names?
Like when you click the forums tab on current DU and you get just a list of forums, no teaser discussions? Harping on the mobile form factor here, but the new forum list isn't great UX on mobile devices.

(22,615 posts)Each of the categories (Navigate > Issue Forums, Navigate > Culture Forums, etc.) has its own list. And yes, those pages now display the title of the most recent thread as well as the forum title. It's a bit squashed on mobile but I figured the thread titles were useful information. Especially since the default sort order on those pages is by "Latest discussion" so the forum with the most recent new OP goes to the top. If we don't show the thread title, it won't be immediately clear why the forums are sorted in that order.
The list can be re-sorted by clicking the headers (so you can get the list alphabetically by clicking the "Forum name" header). But currently you can't hide the thread titles column. However, this is one of those things that could potentially be added as a personalized Account Setting ( eg. "Don't display thread titles in forum listings" ) at some point. And there may be some other tweaks I can make to improve it a bit.

(4,218 posts)I hope this works out. I did sort by forum name, but the thread titles turned that into a scrolling nightmare to find forums. I realize I can subscribe but I dont want to subscribe to other forums than what I have. I just scroll the list and dip into what looks interesting at the time.
TBH, while I like the colors and its clear the layout is trying to be way more modern, Im not in love with the mobile view. The current DU is so much more responsive and respectful of real estate on a phone. On some DU 4 pages, the forum chrome takes up about 3/5 of the screen. The tabs are enormous, for example. My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max and I always use the Safari browser. For comparison, the layout on an iPad is much, much better and less busy. Much more attractive and inviting.
I hope this helps. I suspect Im not in a minority of people who consume DU on a phone, especially among working people who grab a quick look-see on a lunch break. I hope the mobile experience doesnt go from good and simple to demonstrably worse.
