DU4 Questions & Answers
Related: About this forumHow will I know when someone has replied to an OP of mine, or even to one of my replies in a thread?
Right now, if I see the "My Posts" tab turn gold I go right there to see who's responded to what.
But now the "My Posts" thingie is buried in "My Stuff". Will "My Stuff" turn gold, and then when I click it, the dropdown show "My Posts" in gold so I can click on it and get there that way?
Not that people respond to my posts much, but that's one of the things that makes it nice to know when someone DOES. Kind of a big deal, yanno...

(22,540 posts)The answer is yes.
Also, every time you get 25 replies, you'll get a notification in the left sidebar alerting you to the fact...

I could leave the "Subscriptions" tab on DU3 yellow pretty much all the time, but I'd always go click on the "My Posts" one as soon as it turned yellow.
Also... flashing? Distracting, it's difficult to have there. Honestly? Feels manipulative.
Can you give us the option to turn off the "flashing" part of the notification feature but keep the color change?

(22,540 posts)Go to My Stuff > Account Settings and scroll down to the "My Stuff" notifications section. Check the drop-down box for five alternatives to the default button flash. (I expect to add more of these in the future.)

(20,987 posts)ALSO you made it possible to mute the "My Subscription" notification there. Which is a better option than getting disappointed because the notification isn't a new reply to a post of mine.
Although it would still be nice to know when there are new posts to the forums I've subscribed to. Just not taking up Home Page real estate or sharing notifications with post replies.
Maybe for DU5!

If you subscribe to a forum and someone posts a new reply in there, a little notification will appear in your left sidebar to let you know about it, it should look like this (I just subscribed to GD in order to get a prompt notification):
You can turn off the "My Stuff" notification and this notification will still appear. If you don't want to see the left sidebar notifications, you can manage them from the Feed page:

(20,987 posts)It's got too much information. I don't want to know who posted what in which forum etc. Especially not when there's a bunch of them. I just want an indicator, somewhere, that will tell me "check your subscription page, there are new posts and you can figure out there which ones you want to look at."
Didja think of that? Huh? Huh??
appreciatively,

(P.S. Seriously, Dude, it's a monumental achievement and I know my habits are not in the 'mainstream' of forum users, so I'm just happy it works as well as it does. Rock on!)

(22,540 posts)Or did you...? There's actually one more way you can get this information. If you're subscribed to forums, those forums appear in the navigation box on the left side of the screen (The "Signed in as TygrBright" box) -- if you click the "Subscribed Forums" link in that box they will appear below.
Now, if you click the "Mark All" button which can be found on various top-level pages (the Latest page, but also your Subscriptions page) the forum icons in that box will turn from yellow to white. After that, whenever a new thread is posted in one of your subscribed forums, the forum icon will change back from white to yellow to let you know.
You can then visit your Subscriptions page to see the thread in question, and while there you can hit the "Mark All" button to reset the forum icons back to white. That does require some manual action on your part, but the process might provide you with the "check your subscription page, there are new posts" information you're looking for.
