Rachel Maddow: Dr. Fauci exemplifies the Trump Republican war on expertise - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC

Rachel Maddow uses examples from Dr. Anthony Fauci's new book and the fact that Trump Republicans are still busy trying to persecute Fauci despite his heroic role in navigating deadly pandemics to illustrate the authoritarian bent of the Republican Party in the Trump era that cannot accept a voice of authority or expertise that outshines their leader. - Aired on 06/17/2024.

Per Fauci, Trump did not understand the difference between vaccination and treatment.

He also, did not understand why flu vaccines could not be used for COVID.

the timing looks like a potential repeat regarding viral infection.

So far, only a handful of human beings have contracted bird flu. They are mostly farmers in contact with other animals which have been infected. But, the fact that a few humans have contracted it means that it is capable of moving to people.

So far, there are no known transmissions from human to human. But the risk is there. If human to human transmissions occur, bird flu will be the next world pandemic.

Now, imagine if Trump is back in office and another pandemic occurs.
