all of science worldwide publishes scientific findings in English.
The reason English is the most learned second language worldwide is also because it's the most polyglot of languages, made up of word roots from Greek, Latin, French, German, etc.

A root word, also known as a base word, is the word part that cannot be broken further down. Prefixes and suffixes can be added to root words to change their meanings. Prefixes are word parts that precede a root word, while suffixes are word parts that are added to the end of root words.

Etymology of denigrate:
"late Middle English (in the sense ‘blacken, make dark’):
-- from Latin denigrat- ‘blackened’,
-- from the verb denigrare,
-- from de- ‘away, completely’ + nigrare (from niger ‘black’)."

denigrate = to blacken the rep of, or 'case shade' on . That's a shady Vance thing.
