Oklahoma School Superintendent Ryan Walters announced the newly formed Office of Religious Liberty and Patriotism. It follows his agencys purchase of more than 500 Trump-edition Bibles for use in Advanced Placement Government courses.
The move is part of a broader campaign by conservatives to infuse Christian nationalism into public schools, in violation of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause. Conservative Christian groups like the Alliance for Defending Freedom which helped overturn Roe V. Wade are behind several cases involving the role of religion in schools.

Trump bibles weighted heavily towards Sodom and Gomorrah. And lies and felony convictions and the gratuitous use of patriotism to dupe the rubes.
Ryan Walters is a shameless pathetic human being. Who knows not of freedom but enjoys what he thinks it is.
THERE IS NO ROLE OF RELIGION IN (PUBLIC) SCHOOLS. Only in the minds of those who have no use for freedom. Id ask Mr Walters to think about it, but Mr Walters does not think. He only reacts to stimuli he exposes himself to.

(222,883 posts)When I was in the very early grades, we said "the school prayer" every day along with the Pledge. All I remember was the end, "our parents, our teachers and our country." I remember it being all that religious. But then, when I was still in elementary school, "the school prayer" was replaced by "a moment of silence," when we kids we told we could pray if we wanted. Then that disappeared and nobody missed it, it was confusing.
So now they're bringing actual religion into public school classrooms?! I'm guessing that some legislation was enacted when I was in elementary school that considered the wish for "our parents, our teachers and our country" crossed the line between church and state, so now they're bringing in actual Bibles?! Where's the legislation now?!
If parents wanted religion in the classroom, they can send their kids to a religious or parochial school. We had required religion classes and daily chapel at my boarding school, but parents knew what they were getting into by sending their kids there. And it's not like TFG is in the least religious, his version of the Bible is just one more grifting money-making scheme for him. Joe Biden is Catholic, but we rarely hear about it, it's personal, as it should be.

Uglicans just don't notice their own cognitive dissonance. Or they think it's God speaking to them in their heads. (Spoiler: It's not God. It's not even anyone on that team.)
