Somehow, it has become almost gauche to say, clearly, that the proximate issue facing American politics right now is the Republican Party. No, that doesn't mean that Democrats are perfect or blameless for all things, only that if you want to identify the primary issue, it is Republicans, who have agency and are using it to subject the country to a tyrant.
