Related: About this forumTrump makes fools of his own supporters with insane move - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen
BTC: Today marks the fifth anniversary of January 6th. Wow, time flies when you're trying to undermine the will of the people. This is just another day.
Anniversaries. Everybody has a different opinion about which ones deserve to be celebrated and what the appropriate level of celebration is. I mean, I've recently been made aware that regardless of value, a gift card to Domino's doesn't convey true love the way I thought it did. Live and learn. But there are still some anniversaries that must be acknowledged.

CBS Morning Show Host: Now, today marks 5 years since the January 6th insurrection at the US Capitol.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Can you believe it? 5 years. You know, the customary gift for 5 years is wood, which makes sense when you see the hard on that Lindsey Graham had for Trump on Air Force One. It also means all those babies who stormed the Capitol are in kindergarten now. And by the way, this guy also took a dump on Pelosi's desk, but it was an accident {image of a toddler resembling the QAnon shaman displayed.}
Yes, five years since Donald Trump whipped up thousands of his most loyal followers and had them attempt to violently interrupt our free and fair election process. And why did they do it? What was the impetus for this baton wielding zip tie carrying MAGA coup? Well, they were sick and tired of an administration making life less affordable. They were fed up that the White House was not bringing jobs back to our country. And they refused to let another president into the Oval Office who would let our nation into foreign wars. How's that working out?

CBS News Chicago Host Irika Sargent: Across the country, there's been no relief as food costs keep rising.
Fox Business Big Money Host Dagen McDowell: We're still in a manufacturing recession.
CBS News Host: The United States just attacked Venezuela's capital.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Yes, thankfully for them, all their fears of having a price hiking, job cutting, neocon globalist in charge went bye-bye. Few.
But as with any anniversary, it's worth spending a moment to reflect on how we've grown or how we've changed. or as is the case of these criminals, not changed at all.

CBS News New York Host: January 6th rioter pardoned by President Trump is charged with threatening to kill New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries.
Unidentified News Host: And after receiving a pardon from President Trump, well, he's now back behind bars. Police arrested 33-year-old Zachary Allen last Friday night. They say he allegedly broke into a home in Henrico County just outside of Richmond and stole personal belongings.
CBS News Host: A man facing charges for firing a gun into the air during the January 6th Capitol riot. He's facing more charges. John Benuelos is now accused of

BTC: Oh, wait. Hold on. Uh, I want to guess. I am amazing at this game. Okay, I'm going to write down what I think the charges are. And if I'm right, maybe I will treat myself to a delicious Domino's gift card. Okay.

CBS News Host: kidnapping and sexual assault in Utah.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Okay. Um, I went with loitering. So, I was close-ish.
As it turns out 5 years after the attack on our Capitol, at least 33 insurrectionists have been rearrested, charged, or sentenced for other crimes. But luckily, all of those horrific criminals were arrested in cities where Donald Trump deployed the National Guard. Oh. Oh, sorry. I'm being told that's not true, even in the slightest.
Yes. Not only did Donald Trump, the man who purports to be the toughest on crime, pardon thousands of people that day, many of whom went on to commit more crimes, it was merely the beginning of his January 6 pardoning spree.

CBS News Texas WH Reporter Julia Benbrook: President Donald Trump has pardoned a list of political allies for their support or involvement in alleged plans to overturn the 2020 election. And it is quite a lengthy list. The Department of Justice says in total 77 people received what they are referring to as full, complete, and unconditional pardons. The individuals listed include high-profile figures like Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani, SIdney Powell, and the president's former chief of staff, Mark Meadows.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Yes, even though we all knew those pardons were coming, Giuliani was still sweating it pretty hard {image of Rudy sweating hair dye displayed}.
What is so sad about Donald Trump's attempt at rewriting history and absolving people of their crimes is that every single one of Trump's supporters now believes that this president will come to their rescue when they find themselves in a jam like this guy from South Carolina.

Defendant: Excuse me. I'm talking I'm talking
Judge: No youre not.
Defendant: Driving under the influence and drinking.
Judge: Your bond is set at $900 cash.
Defendant: I don't have no bond.
Judge: And you've got a $20,000 cash surety bond on the uh failure start from the blue light.
Defendant: I'm not signing either one.
Judge: I understand that.
Defendant: I'll contact Donald Trump if you ask him.
Judge: All right.
Defendant: Okay. Yep. I guess I'll be contacting Donald Trump then.

BTC: This guy has no doubt that Donald Trump is going to rescue him from what he sees as a miscarriage of justice. And this might be counterintuitive, but I think that this is not his fault. It's his. Donald Trump has created a new class of criminal that believes as long as they are in Donald Trump's MAGA camp, as long as they subscribe to his idea that the election was rigged, that Democrats are evil, and that their tiny-handed leader is the only one who can bring them wealth and prosperity, they'll be just fine. But that is all bullshit and also a pretty odd promise coming from the guy who has been saying this for over a decade.
(cut to video of first Trump/Clinton 2016 debate)
Trump: We have to bring back law and order.
(cut to video)
Trump: I am the law and order candidate.
(cut to video)
Trump: I am your president of law and order.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Just as an aside, isn't it so odd to hear the words law and order without the {musical effect}. There it is.
But despite being the president of supposed law and order, despite being the president of that, Donald Trump has created this new class of criminal who believe that if they're aligned with him politically, they are immune to our justice system. The only problem is that new class doesn't realize that they've actually been broken up into two subsets. The criminals who can help Trump and everyone else. It's kind of like people at a Diddy party. Everybody there got invited to the party, but only some of the people were invited to the party. See, if you're someone who is involved in money laundering and your actions enabled the flow of funds to terrorists, cyber criminals, and child abusers, but you're also a billionaire CEO of a crypto company, Trump will take your call.
If you've committed wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and enriched yourself by deceiving countless people, but you're also a member of Trump's political party, the president will take your call.
And if you've been convicted of tax evasion and found guilty of siphoning more than $10 million in payroll taxes from the checks of doctors and nurses to finance a lavish lifestyle, but your mommy cut a million dollar check to the president at a fundraiser, Trump will take your call.
But if you're just a guy, a guy without billions in your bank account or a political party behind you or a mother who can Venmo a quick million to the White House for you and you've been accused of committing much lesser crimes than a lot of other people, your call is going straight to Trump's voicemail. And that is the brilliance of Trump's con. He's able to make all of his supporters feel like he's talking directly to them. And I get it. I felt the same way when I saw Taylor in concert. I was like, I'm pretty sure she's telling me to shake it off.
Trump sailed into power on the message that the system is rigged against you. But the reality is the system is rigged for him. Sure, he'll pardon everybody who stormed the Capitol that day and continue to paint them as brave, peaceful patriots, but not because it helps them. It's because it helps him. It's because he sent a message to his de facto standing army across the country that they can commit violence if it's on his behalf. This is merely Trump's attempt to solidify the false narrative that he's got your back. But he's not looking out for the little guy. He's looking out for himself.
Can anybody point where that's actually happening? Him looking out for the little guy? Americans are on food assistance, seeing their SNAP benefits get cut. Medicaid recipients are getting kicked off their plans. ACA premiums are surging two, three, four, five times higher. Inflation's as high as it was when Biden left office. And the cost of buying groceries for your family has gotten more expensive. And while all that's happening, the backs that Trump really has are the backs of the rich and powerful. Billionaires get tax cuts, oil barons get richer, and Trump's own family gets to add plenty of zeros to their bank account. The only criminals he's willing to stand up for are the ones that benefit him. Because Trump cares as much about the little guy as he does about law and order.
