they should have made that decision a long time ago. Party above country doesn’t cut it with me.

Many of them represent districts where a lot of their voters rely on food stamps, Obama care, Medicare, ss, etc. (these are the same voters who vote against their own interests, but is a whole different conversation for another thread). While most politicians will pal around with wealthy donors, they know if they don't throw a few scraps to their poorer voters, they could be voted out.

to protect the flow of public funds to the for-profit health insurance industry.

Health care needs to be affordable; no one NEEDS insurance. I know it's a bit naive to think this way but I am allowed to dream.
