The Way Forward
Related: About this forumHere's A Radical Suggestion For Congressional Democrats
Bring back town halls. Start holding town halls in your districts to inform your constituents what Trump is doing.
Hey Senators, you're not too high up the totem pole to hold town halls. You can hold them in districts that have Magat reps.
Calling our Representatives is a must, but actually speaking to people in person can do wonders.
Project 2025 is on track to be implemented in 180 days. Schedule those town halls now.

(6,477 posts)Bullies would come to try to disrupt. We always welcomed them, and served them cookies. Most left without a peep.
In another meeting held by Sheila Jackson Lee in Houston to support Obamacare, they arrived en masse to disrupt. I prepared name tags for participants that said "I am uninsurable" - the problem that ACA was working to solve.
Pretty much the whole room wore them to show the need for ACA.

(2,420 posts)So you are saying, well, it's a good idea but we should be afraid of MAGAts showing up to attack our Congressional representatives?
It's that attitude of taking a pillow to a gunfight that has put us in the fix we are in.
To hell with reaching across the aisle, listening to their opinions, don't speak out because they may be mean to us.
This is a war.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

(2,933 posts)That's why they pull what they pull. There is nary a repercussion for them nor any accountability for them at all actually.
They terrorize us at will and that's never going to stop on its own. It has to be stopped head on.

(11,109 posts)this time, there will be more of us than of them! This is a different time. Obama is not President anymore. Trump the dictator occupies the WH now. Dems are in no mood to suffer any Magas in the crowd. If these Town Halls come to your territory, I advise you take part in one. I think you will find the mood much different than the ones you remember from yore.
We should be intimidated? Just cave in?
MAGA won't let us???? All the more reason to go forward.
Stand up. Speak out. Don't back down.

My thread still stands. Are our elected Congressional officials contracting out what they could/should be doing?

(3,415 posts)As far as I know they aren't being disrupted.
Any news after today's emergency meeting of Dems?

I find it hard to watch anything political like Rachel on TV since my wife is a Trumper and we still manage to have a peaceful coexistence, but I take action where I can.

Probably would have made a different decision then. Divorce seems a little extreme but I do think about it, especially now.

(26,183 posts)they will get coverage from the MSM. I believe these town halls would be significant and draw significant crowds of all persuasions.
These town halls should draw Democrats, Magats, Independents, and people who didn't vote.

What has happened to the Democratic party?

(17,512 posts).... get infront of the messaging,... create the messaging narrative.
Assume the posture of proactive offensive messaging as opposed to habitual defensive responses or worst yet - utter radio, television, and social media silence.
Now is not a good time for the Democratic Party to play dead and/or fading into non-existence.

(22,097 posts)The old media is not covering the Democratic view. They can get around that by your town hall suggestion but also by having a YouTube channel. The videos would be spread further by MeidasTouch and similar channels.
We need to get our message out there without it being changed by the propaganda channels!
Edited to add: Excerpts from the YouTube videos can be posted on Bluesky, TicToc and any new social media that is neutral and not Maga-centric. This would spread our message further.
We have to get out of the traditional media and its propaganda.

(644 posts)I got no phone calls. No one came to my county during the past election cycle. The other thing that really makes me mad is that when they do come, it's during the day when most people are at work. I live in Oregon, and live in a very red area. These people want to join the state of Idaho.
