Everyone thought that Musk/Trump could never destroy our social safety nets because they could never get it through Congress.

They just neuter Congress, problem solved. The House will no longer control the purse strings, Putin/Musk/Trump will.

through some kind of pipeline or system he owns so he can charge transaction fees for "processing" government payments - sort of like a massive PayPal for the government. Payees will get paid as usual, but Musk will get a little cut each time (which taxpayers will pay for). When you're very, very rich you never have enough money.
