Musk Turning Himself Into the 'Guest Who Wouldn't Leave' at Mar-a-Lago

Source: thedailybeast

After all that election night excitement, it seems Elon Musk just doesn’t want to go home.

Multiple sources have told CNN that amid the post-victory buzz around Mar-a-Lago, the Tesla CEO has been at Donald Trump’s Florida resort almost every single day over the past week, with Instagram posts under the location tag showing him dining with the president-elect and his wife on Sunday, as well as spending time on the grounds with his son over the weekend.

Taylor Swift Shares 'Extremely Important' Reminder for Fans to Vote

Source: ROLLINGSTONE

The singer previously endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for president

Taylor Swift celebrated the culmination of the U.S. leg of the Eras Tour by encouraging fans to remember to vote on Election Day. “Couldn’t have asked for a more magical way to end our US shows on The Eras Tour,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “Just had the time of my life with 207,000 beautiful people in Indianapolis who showered us with so much love and excitement and joy… I know I’ll be looking back on this weekend and smiling because it was just like a dreamscape, all of it. Thank you to everyone who came out to see us on our last 3 American shows!!” She added, along with ballot box and American flag emojis, “And here’s a friendly but extremely important reminder that tomorrow is the US Election and your last chance to vote.” In September, Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president, confirming that she would be casting her vote for the Democratic candidate. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift wrote on social media. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.” The singer emphasized her decision, writing, “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.” The 14-time Grammy winner signed her post as “Taylor Swift” and “Childless Cat Lady.” Following the endorsement, Walz told MSNBC that he was “incredibly grateful” for Swift’s endorsement. “I say that also as a cat owner, a fellow cat owner,” he added. “That was eloquent and it was clear, and that’s the type of courage we need in America, to stand up.” Harris noted that she was “very proud” to have the pop star’s support. “I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right,” Harris told Wired. One person who wasn’t thrilled about Swift’s endorsement of Harris was Republican candidate Donald Trump. At first, Trump tried to brush off losing the endorsement of the most famous person in the world by calling Swift a “very liberal person” and suggesting “she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.” But he couldn’t help from revealing just how big mad he was a few days later when he posted on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”

Listen To The Jeffrey Epstein Tapes: 'I Was Donald Trump's Closest Friend'

Source: thedailybeast

THE PREDATOR AND THE PRESIDENT
Explosive tapes recorded by author Michael Wolff show Epstein claiming Trump liked to “f---” his friends’ wives and first slept with Melania on the “Lolita Express.”

Jeffrey Epstein described himself as Donald Trump’s “closest friend” and claimed intimate knowledge of his proclivity for sex, including cuckolding his best friends, according to recordings obtained exclusively by the Daily Beast.

The convicted pedophile even boasted of his closeness to Trump and his now-wife Melania by claiming, “the first time he slept with her was on my plane,” which was dubbed the Lolita Express.

Epstein spoke at length about Trump with the author Michael Wolff in August 2017, two years before being found dead in his jail cell. Wolff was researching his bombshell bestseller Fire and Fury at the time.

The recordings cast more light on Trump’s long relationship with Epstein, and will add to debate over the character of the Republican candidate, especially his attitudes and conduct toward women, just days before the election.

The tapes tell Epstein’s version of the relationship between two former friends and their very different paths: One toward infamy, prison and suicide; the other toward power, the Oval Office and his own criminal conviction for paying hush money to a porn star.

Trump’s camp referred to the tapes’ release as “false smears” and “election interference.”

The tapes also offer unusual insight into the friendship of two wealthy, powerful men who frequently went out on the town together, prowling for women in New York and Atlantic City.

Republicans' Closing Argument: We Will Wreck the Economy

The former president’s allies have used the final days of the campaign to argue for sharp spending cuts that would harm millions of Americans.

In the closing days of the presidential campaign, Donald Trump’s allies suddenly have a new message: The US needs sharp, immediate and ill-defined spending cuts.

Elon Musk, who’s been talking about immigration for more than a year, now says he’s going to oversee $2 trillion in reductions. That’s a third of the federal budget, so you’d think there might be some kind of plan for what this involves, but all Musk would say last week is that “temporary hardship” will be involved. What kind of hardship? Well, House Speaker Michael Johnson let it be known last week that “health care reform’s going to be a big part of the agenda” if Trump wins, including a “very aggressive” attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Hedge fund billionaire John Paulson, a Trump supporter, also weighed in last week about the need for steep cuts.

Trump Media Outsourced Jobs to Mexico Even as Trump Pushes "America First"

Source: propublica

Former President Donald Trump’s social media company outsourced jobs to workers in Mexico even as Trump publicly railed against outsourcing on the campaign trail and threatened heavy tariffs on companies that send jobs south of the border.

The firm’s use of workers in Mexico was confirmed by a spokesperson for Trump Media, which operates the Truth Social platform. The workers were hired through another entity to code and perform other technical duties, according to a person with knowledge of Trump Media. The reliance on foreign labor was met with outrage among the company's own staff, who accused its leadership of betraying their “America First” ideals, the person said.

Companies ready price hikes to offset Trump's global tariff plans

Source: washingtonpost

Across the United States, companies that rely on foreign suppliers are preparing to raise prices in response to the massive import tariffs that former president Donald Trump promises if he wins the election Tuesday.

Producers of a range of items, including clothing, footwear, baby products, auto parts and hardware, say they will pass along the cost of the tariffs to their American customers.

The planned price increases next year would come as consumers are beginning to enjoy relief from the highest inflation in four decades, and they directly contradict Trump’s repeated assurances that foreigners will pay the tariff tab.

“We’re set to raise prices,” Timothy Boyle, chief executive of Columbia Sportswear, said in an interview. “We’re buying stuff today for delivery next fall. So we’re just going to deal with it and we’ll just raise the prices. … It’s going to be very, very difficult to keep products affordable for Americans.”

Trump vows to impose the heaviest tariffs since the 1930s,

A Woman Died After Being Told It Would Be a "Crime" to Intervene in Her Miscarriage at a Texas Hospital

Source: propublica

Josseli Barnica grieved the news as she lay in a Houston hospital bed on Sept. 3, 2021: The sibling she’d dreamt of giving her daughter would not survive this pregnancy.

The fetus was on the verge of coming out, its head pressed against her dilated cervix; she was 17 weeks pregnant and a miscarriage was “in progress,” doctors noted in hospital records. At that point, they should have offered to speed up the delivery or empty her uterus to stave off a deadly infection, more than a dozen medical experts told ProPublica.

But when Barnica’s husband rushed to her side from his job on a construction site, she relayed what she said the medical team had told her: “They had to wait until there was no heartbeat,” he told ProPublica in Spanish. “It would be a crime to give her an abortion.”

For 40 hours, the anguished 28-year-old mother prayed for doctors to help her get home to her daughter; all the while, her uterus remained exposed to bacteria.

Trump's main selling point turns toxic: Mass deportation is a polling loser

Source: salon

Trump knows that explaining what mass deportations entail would be a disaster for him
Donald Trump, who has made his entire candidacy a referendum on immigration, will not discuss his mass deportation plans in detail—not in a recent Univision town hall nor his one debate with Kamala Harris. That’s a tell.

Since those debates, Trump has only leaned deeper into mass deportations, while Harris has aggressively made her case about how she will help Latinos economically, a telling reset to reach Latino voters in the final weeks of the election.

Trump vows to deport millions. Builders say it would drain their crews and drive up home costs.
While some contractors dismiss the plan as political rhetoric, many say they can’t afford to lose more people from an aging, immigrant-dependent workforce still short of nearly 400,000 people.
