The Senate and House Armed Services committees have oversight jurisdiction here. Senator Tim Kaine and Representative Gerry Connolly, both Democrats of Virginia and respective members of those committees, have called on the Army to provide the report and release more information.

What’s more, Senate Armed Services Committee staff have been directly communicating with Army officials about the incident, and are in the process of seeking and receiving the information in the report and about what happened, a congressional aide tells me. Meanwhile, senior House Democrats are privately pushing Army officials to say more clearly what laws or regulations they think may have been broken, and to reveal more details about what happened, another aide says, noting that Democratic staffers are encountering resistance, leaving them frustrated.

As far as I can determine, the Senate Armed Services Committee has clear oversight jurisdiction on this Arlington mess. The cemetery is run by the Army via the Office of Army Cemeteries. So the Armed Services Committee will surely be getting a full accounting of what happened.

What time does the DNC start?
While many events will take place throughout each day, the "main programming" is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. (6:30 PM Easterrn) Tuesday, a shift from the 6 p.m. (7:00 PM Easterrn) scheduled start time. Organizers said the timing change was made to "make sure that we stay on track."

Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, will hold a rally with her running mate Gov. Tim Walz inside the Fiserv Forum.

Doors open for the Harris-Walz event at 4 p.m. (5 PM Eastern)

Harris is expected to deliver her remarks at 7 p.m. (8 PM Eastern)

When Denisha Mitchell was asked why she filled out paperwork to serve as an Arizona elector for the independent presidential candidate Cornel West, her first response was “What?!” Her second: What’s an elector?

She and her husband were both enthusiastic supporters of Bernie Sanders and were drawn to West’s progressive message earlier this year. They later took jobs gathering petition signatures to get an initiative on the ballot that would raise the wages of tipped workers. They soured on West’s candidacy when they read that Republican-aligned operatives were working to get him on the ballot to play spoiler.

“We weren’t for the Republican griminess, so we stopped pushing him,” she said.

Her former employer, a signature gathering contractor called Wells Marketing, a mysterious Missouri limited liability company, is leading the effort to get West on the ballot in Arizona. The company did not respond to a message seeking comment at a phone number listed for it.
