Since most corporate executives favor policies that are far to the right of what most Americans (or most people anywhere, for that matter) consider acceptable, and since they can afford to pretty much elect their personal toadies to Congress, what comes out of Congress tends to reflect their whims, rather than the common good.

Precious little will change until we get gig money our of politics; if anything, things will continue to get worse: more plutocratic, and more autocratic.

Excellent post, Muriel. These four years have proven it exactly right.
