(112,510 posts)I work in health care and I take every damned precaution available to me at work. Only a small portion of my work can be done from home. I had the better part of this last week and weekend off due to a previously scheduled and canceled conference, so it has been a bit more flexible.
When I am not at work, I totally isolate--mainly because I am too exhausted to even think of doing anything else and the empty shelved on Sam's or grocery store trips have demoralized me. I have a few weeks' worth of food and supplies and I eat boring repetitive meals that I batch cook/freeze or prepare in minutes. Lots of steamed frozen veggies and the homemade yogurt I make twice a week with peanut butter or frozen fruit. Boring, but digestible. I spend a few minutes every day trying to order some things online. Most days, I come up short and even if the order is accepted, they frequently confirm then email you five days later that your order has been canceled (out of stock).
I walk 3-5 miles on an urban trail that has largely cleared out, so I don't have to worry so much about people wanting to meet and greet my pup or even chitchat. I did walk my dog with a friend and her dog, but she's now in quarantine and has major risk factors for COVID-19. So, even if she fully recovers as I hope, she may no longer feel up to joining us on the trail.
