We stuffed them into ships like animals. We treated them like animals. We viewed them as animals. Eventually we decided enough white men had raped the female animals that they could be considered 3/5 human. At least half the whites in this country needed laws to keep from sitting next to these 3/5 humans until well after I was born.

The dehumanizing of people isn't history. It's real and it's now.
