3. If you watch the talking heads it's easy to think this.

That seems to be true throughout the political spectrum. Political commentators and “news”
Shows focus on divisive issues, things that do get peoples attention. But the are plenty of voters who are more well informed and actually vote for candidates based on their stands on issues beyond specific emotional ones. It is unfortunate that those folks are probably out numbered by voters who focus on some emotional-moral opinion but we shouldn’t allow them to dominate politics.
