Look at Reality Winner's circumstances. She was a contractor working in a totally different area when she accessed and printed the document that she turned over the to the press. (Frankly, I don't know how she was able to access something that she had no clearance to see, but that's above my former paygrade.) They had a way of telling who accessed that document and which printer it was printed on.
