13. Americans are opportunistic.

It is ingrained in out psyche. We will be nice if it gets us something, and we will be mean if that gets us something. After almost 60 years as someone who has always been seen as 'bad' by the 'normal' population, I can now tell you that 'normal' means evil, selfish bastards. The 'kind, nice people' have become the minority because they have all been either taken advantage of and ruined, or left out in the cold because of reasons (read: not like us'). As a good friend used to say: "People suck. ALL people suck. But, a few of us realize that we suck and try to not suck to bad." Unfortunately, that few has gotten fewer and fewer as time has passed. I can only hope that great societal shift comes along and changes this. But, I won't see any of that.
