(58,785 posts)Those descriptions I tried to explain are general comparisons between mankind's two main personality types, while individuals are goulashes of every possible combination in every possible degree. I believe all traits are shared by liberals and conservatives, just some, in general, to sufficiently differing degrees in each type to allow defining by differences. Like tendency to rejection v tendency to acceptance of differences, etc.
I'd thought my own childhood didn't allow much in the way of pollyannaish delusions to develop, and I never thought "it" couldn't happen here, but I still gravely underestimated certain potentials. (!) In the 1980s-90s conservative-dominated circles we associated with started becoming increasingly critical and even hostile, while more liberal ones were unchanged, and we were wondering what was happening but still accepting and wanting to be friends. Clueless just a bit?! This was before I set out to learn what was going on.
