4. Do recruit a bunch of people to volunteer & keep a copy of the list for yourself

You wonder how anyone could be so blind these days — well, I take that back. These folks may be part of the backlash going around the country. Or, more benignly, they may have simply always done it this way. The fact that it took legal threats on your part inclines me to think less kind thoughts.

Ask around among your friends for volunteers, but also ask at the Unitarian Universalist Society and synagogue. Any Buddhist or Hindu temples might also have someone who could volunteer on a rotating basis.

I would count it as a victory if you could get them to commit to an inclusive rota of people they can and do call on. Tell the volunteers on the rota to prod the Committee scheduler if they don’t hear back. Let them have their “second invocation” if it makes them happy.
