I'd been taught and it was before all the nde stories and reincarnation research came out. Then I could see that my nde contained truth. I pretty well discounted Christianity, but nevertheless spent decades reading the parables and trying to make some sense of them. One day the outrageousness of one alerted me that it had to be hiding something. Sure enough, karma appeared. Where karma is, one expects reincarnation and it turns out that that runs all through many other parables. Seek and you will find!!! The hidden messages, which Jesus admitted to, means that the gospel writers were not Orthodox. The god system described in the synoptics fits in with a Jewish mysticism or with a simple Gnosticism.
