...so I won't take the poll, but from my newbie point of view, it seems troll activity flares up around any hot topic being discussed, I guess with the intent to chill any positive progress made from those discussions.
I can usually tell when a poster pops in with a clear attempt to sideline a discussion by bringing some barely related gaslighting statement or question, that the discussion has hit a sensitive spot on their radar.
