That debate is going to be more impactfull than people think. [View all]

I heard reported that an estimated 70 percent of Americans will watch it. If true , this is a great opportunity.

For the past decades debates have morphed into a game of showmanship and in particular the last 15 or so with an emphasis on producing one liners and zingers suitable fie cable news or social media.

In this context, serious policy discussions take second stage. This is rendered worse when you also have a live studio audience further incentivising the debaters to perform for it rather than discuss issues.

With this format, one studio, two debaters with mics being cut off in between , the candidate with substantial issues to discuss and policies to present will be advantaged.

Trump is going to get destroyed and America will see how incompetent he is in contrast of president Biden who will dominate the debate like he did at the state of the union.
