(146,561 posts)75. I know Mark had that popularity along with his wife Gabby and Scott might or might not want to do it
But I am afraid the legislature might try to mess with the appointment powers like they did in NC and KY (although I believe they don't have a super-majority to override a veto there).
I don't want an unstable Senate because we are already losing a seat from WV (unless we can kick Cruz out, which is a tall order). We already have Menendez going bye bye (and he'll be replaced by a (D) in NJ), but they have a (D) legislature too.

OP
Not when it comes to AZ. McCain republicans have already started campaigning for Biden. And now Harris.

Oh...he's been through 2 elections. His first election was 2020, Then 2022. His term won't expire until 2028.

Yes and she could nominate Scott Kelly, Mark's brother, who is equally impressive

In theory, so would I... but a moderate helps assure we beat Trump, and that's the priority. nt

I had more courage when the opposition was people like John McCain or Mitt Romney...

Saw a post on twitter saying Kelly would be a mistake. He's a nice guy but way too boring and mild mannered

Kelly didn't barely win. He won by 5 percentage points. He is wildly popular and accepted across the aisle.
