(13,399 posts)45. That area of Nevada is very selfishly, status quo Red.
I've gone through Pahrump and other small Nevada towns like that on a government project several times before in the early 90's.
Tourists and truck drivers are "suffered" because they bring in revenue and supplies, but if you don't belong in "their" town, you just get yerself out as soon as your business is done.
They sure like their government subsidies and modern comforts invented and built by those evil, diverse outsiders though. They justify those things by pretending God gives those to them, like a parent giving their kids fancy Christmas presents because they deserve them.
