James Earl Jones performs from Othello at the White House (2009) [View all]

In tribute to actor James Earl Jones who died today at the age of 93. In addition to his many movie roles and voiceovers, Jones played Shakespeare characters on the stage, including Othello and King Lear. During his early life, like President Joe Biden, he was afflicted with a severe stutter. He eventually learned to control his stutter but said that it never fully went away.



From the White House Evening of Poetry, Music, and the Spoken Word on May 12, 2009. The Obama and Biden families were in attendance and can be seen during this performance.
