St Louis fire.

He was either shot or was knifed in a bar fight. He didn't speak English, so we don't know what happened or whether he deserved one or not. He was in from April 1918-Jan 1919. They didn't send him overseas, seeing that he really would have been a liability since he did not speak English. Heck he got fired from a job because they were ordering him to "push it", which sounded like Turkish for "kiss". It filled my grandfather with rage and he punched a guy out and was promptly fired on the spot, in what was likely his first day.

Anyway, he was just happy to have his VA medical benefits and wear his American Legion hat.
