Asheville, North Carolina is a vibrant community in Western North Carolina. It has been compared to Berkeley and other towns. Filled with artists, artisans, small businesses. Very progressive. The arts section of town - full of small studios and galleries - was obliterated.

The majority of people who "ignore" evacuation orders generally have pretty solid reasons for not evacuating.
