17. Robotic Astroid mining is far more do-able than Colonization.

I would suspect the first Trillionaire will be the head of whichever company or consortium that figures out a repeatable working process to bring back the minerals in bulk.
Current technology is advanced enough to ramp up such an effort and get it off the ground within 10/15 years.
Colonization is harder and not as profitable in the near term. However, Colonization might give the technocrats somewhere to retreat off Earth to, as climate starts to collapse.
Just like some articles I've read recently suggest AI and robotics Tech Bros are into is actually because they want to start building Stepford Wives for themselves and leave the rest of the females in the world as incubators.
