Some things look amazingly different if you haven't lived them. I know--thank you, Captain Obvious, but it's deeper than that, and I think you hit some really good points. We SEE things on TV or read about them and we are only using our sense of sight but catastrophes hit us on every sensory level and take us right into our limbic systems. It is complex.

Grasping the impact leads to greater empathy, and we can sure use more of that.
