(2,451 posts)There is an intrinsic asymmetry for voting criteria depending on one's party affiliation and how people make their decisions.
Republicans aren't about policies per se, or even character as William Bennett used to preach - it's about voting for a wreaking ball.
Trump is a wreaking ball. He promises to tear it all down. The more egregious his behavior, the more popular he is with the base.
The disaffected and aggrieved just want pay back. They are ignorant of and unconcerned of the inconvenient fact it takes a long time and enormous effort to build systems that work for people and ensure the safety of citizens. State Dept. get rid of it! Education Dept. get rid of it! EPA - get rid of it! Taxes - get rid of em! They're nihilists whether they know what the word means or not and they are going to break the country. Welcome to Favela land.
