In reply to the discussion: AOC seems to want to be President. How about her as our next nominee for President? [View all]Bettie
(17,479 posts)59. We can't choose a woman, a minority or anyone who isn't a white man
we also have to watch our messaging, not show too much support for people who aren't white, male, and Christian...
If that's who we're going to support, well, it's a big change. We can't be the party of women, people of color, GLBT+, etc. Just white men because white men require exclusivity. They need to be the first and only priority.
So, yeah, I get it, we will have only white male, "centrist" candidates. I don't have to like that we're not going to be a party of diversity anymore though.

OP
Yeah. If we think Kamala Harris motivated RWers & MAGATs like no one else, just wait until AOC is on the ballot.

I like her too but IIRC a Rep. elected the WH. She might be ready after a couple of Senate terms.

Well reality is what it is, the question is do we pick the person most likely to get elected or the one we like the most

In safe Dem areas we can, but in national contests we have to appeal to middle of the road voters,

I would love to AOC at the top of the ticket, but for just a minute can we stop talking about 2028?

If we want to win then go with Josh Shapiro, Eric Swalwell, Mark Kelly, Jon Ossoff,...etc,.

The Party owners will never allow it. She's way too liberal for them. No talking about income inequality.

No! Absolutely not. -- She's fine where she is, in a comfortably easy-to-win blue district.

No, first of all, I doubt a woman is likely to be elected in my lifetime and secondly,

Way, way, way, way too early. Let's get through the nightmare first, before we can dream again. NT

She won't kiss repug ass and she won't worry about hurting their feelings. We can't have that.

This is not a reality based suggestion. I guess we need to float this kind of stuff to feel hopeful?
