(3,208 posts)And I contend that every Republican bears some degree of responsibility for the 2024 debacle, the final nail, perhaps, in the coffin of American Democracy. Some of the guilty have at least tried to get the lifeboats unsnarled and into the water -- I think of only 2 at the moment: Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, at the moment-- but most either actively and eagerly backed Fatso after January 6th, even after initially condemning him on January 7th. Spineless cowards to a man and woman. And I also include everyone who voted for Fatso and for any other Fatso-supporting Senator, Representative, Governor, State legislator, all the way down to the proverbial dog-catcher.
All of them are moral cowards and worse. They all knowingly agreed to surrender America's long cherished freedoms to the depraved, felonious, sexually decadent, fascist, misogynistic, murderous monsters of the MAGA Party. And they did so because, many of them, in their own cold heart-holes, are, depraved monsters themselves.
(Yes, Aunt Bea, I'm looking at you, so don't give me that "Oh, I just didn't know he was such a bad man" bull shit when the show trials and summary executions begin. You knew who he was, you knew what he was, and you loved him for giving voice to your hatred for people, thoughts, and movements that you don't care for.)
