(10,769 posts)I've never had an emotional attachment in the positive to any UK prime minister. Negative, yes. Definitely towards Thatcher. But positive... Not really. I don't think Canadians have a positive attachment to Justin Trudeau like "He's my PM". And in the Anglophone world I think that's the case. Prime Ministers are always "the" Prime minister. Never "My PM".
The monarchy.... Similar unless you're a (small R) republican. Elizabeth was never "my Queen", always "the Queen" to me. I liked her, but I never "owned" her. Charles... He's the king. A misunderstood guy, relatively nice guy actually. Preferred his mother over him but he's not bad. But again not "my king". To die hard republicans no monarch is ever "my monarch".... To them it doesn't exist.
So in a sense no-ones is ever "my president". Not even Joe. And I like Joe. The upcoming guy? Nasty man. Real nasty.
