But, UHC had almost $390 billion in revenue with under $304 billion cost of revenue.
That's a 28% margin. I'm not willing to call that a tight margin. After SG&A, they still had a 10% total margin. That, of course, includes all depreciation which is a legitimate expense, but doesn't involve cash.
So, they were "harming the polticians' constituents" to lower the cost when they were already running on reasonably strong margins.
The margins don't appear to be the motivation. More likely, we can pin it on competitive greed.
