Trump Companies Accused of Tax Evasion in Panama--ARTICLES FROM 2018/2019

In the latest chapter in ongoing litigation, the private equity fund that bought what used to be called the Trump Ocean Club claims the Trump entities pocketed money that should have gone to the Panamanian government.

Private equity manager Orestes Fintiklis and the company he leads, Ithaca Capital Partners, claimed that two Trump companies failed to pay Panamanian taxes equal to 12.5% of the management fees they drew from the hotel.

Panama Hotel Owner Declares Victory and Trump’s Name Is Removed

PANAMA CITY, Panama — The majority owner of the Trump International Hotel and Tower declared victory here Monday in his battle to oust the U.S. president’s family business from the property, its only current hotel venture in Latin America.

Within hours, a workman wielding a sledgehammer and crowbar pried the silver letters T-R-U-M-P off the sign at the hotel, the tallest building in Panama. It became the latest property around the world to lose the Trump name since the 2016 election.
