Engineers will learn whatever software is needed for a company that is providing the job. What I have seen out in the American corporate world is a huge gazpacho of software. In some ways it provides a niche for those who want to work in a non-Microsoft environment. But, it would be nice if they had an incentive to work with the more modern code.

I don't see that kind of recruitment going on. It's more of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
