In reply to the discussion: I feel like the Democratic Party is shattered [View all]Buckeyeblue
(5,739 posts)36. We won some close senate races (AZ and MI) and gained House seats
So, a group of people voted for Trump as president and then voted for a down ticket Democratic candidate. Very interesting.
What kept them from voting for Harris? And I'm sure there is not one answer. What I would say is that Harris didn't do a particularly good job of listing her priorities. For Democratic candidates the American worker always needs to be the first priority. If we allow Republicans to frame our priorities any differently, we will not win. Because it comes down to this: regardless of gender, color, religion, sexuality, a person is a worker. If we take care of the worker, the other priorities will also benefit.

We need a "dirty deeds" PAC. The GOP uses PACs mostly to push memes and click bait.

The Dem message was weak and all over the place. It didn't focus nearly enough on what's pissing off many people.

If we are shattered, much of it is our own fault for being complacent & overconfident about beating Trump.

It isn't the Democratic party that is shattered, but the country who has accepted the sociopath, sexist, racist garbage
