There really is not much, on balance, to offer newcomers here.

So many actually good, vital, stimulating articles sink like rocks, whilst fake news/misleading OPs often remain up long after they are debunked.

Not just that, but new replies flow in and wilfully ignore the fact the OP is bullshit.

Also, there is the always irritating, far too common ploy of a person admitting they know little to nothing about a subject, but then proceeding to issue narratives, commands, demands, etc, often invoking logical fallacies, flawed framings, and, unfortunately at times, outright falsehoods, all spun up as if they are the sole arbiter on the subject, self-admitted ignorance be damned.

The level of discernment here is lower than when I joined, and the groupthink level higher. Tolerance of most anything declared to be remotely heterodox is abysmal.

Add it all up, and you hardly have the recipe for a vibrant growing community.
