(8,177 posts)This will probably get alerted on and ffs, I’m not trying to rehash old stuff (and Earl’s new forum should allow more of this kind of discussion) BUT…
Many progressives moved off here or were purged. Even progressive Dems like AOC (who was inspired to run by Bernie) initially found a frosty reception here and in Congress. I don’t think we’ve reconciled that tbh.
Do we go (back) to FDR ideals of a democracy that uplifts every American like fighting for M4A or a public option, a decent living wage, free community college, affordable housing, trans rights (yes they matter) etc? Or do we become Republican-lite, beholden to special corporate interests, both-parties-are-the-same etc?
We desperately need that conversation stat. I don’t think it’s snark that’s driven off folks - it’s a rigidity that we can’t afford anymore. Shutting out AOC for example, isn’t a good harbinger imo
