(8,682 posts)This will probably get alerted on and ffs, Im not trying to rehash old stuff (and Earls new forum should allow more of this kind of discussion) BUT
Many progressives moved off here or were purged. Even progressive Dems like AOC (who was inspired to run by Bernie) initially found a frosty reception here and in Congress. I dont think weve reconciled that tbh.
Do we go (back) to FDR ideals of a democracy that uplifts every American like fighting for M4A or a public option, a decent living wage, free community college, affordable housing, trans rights (yes they matter) etc? Or do we become Republican-lite, beholden to special corporate interests, both-parties-are-the-same etc?
We desperately need that conversation stat. I dont think its snark thats driven off folks - its a rigidity that we cant afford anymore. Shutting out AOC for example, isnt a good harbinger imo
