So, yes, for these types of projects, you need the best and the brightest in the world. For basic networking jobs? No, those can be done with training and experience.

Why does R&D require talent from outside of the US? Why can't we easily train Americans for all tech jobs?

Is that why? Ughh...Right now it's very hard to get into nursing schools. (Yep!) We still have nursing shortages.

Exactly. Same with the Bar Exam. It's all meant as gate keepers for keeping supply down to keep the pay high. nt

As I stated in my OP, high end R&D jobs do require top talent, but that's not most tech jobs.
