I wasn’t working there at the time the employee was fired. Yes, the issue about people talking about their political beliefs in the lunch room was brought up to HR with expected results. (Nothing to be done because the conversations are not considered harassment).

As to management: Like I said, they rarely talk politics except in heated times like elections. (Even the bumper sticker person.) But every one of them lets it slip at some point. Especially since the election.

Oh, and other retail stores are absolutely like that. Before my current job, I worked for one of the large home improvement stores. That place was filled with Trumpers top to bottom. And they let you know it.

Believe me and others, or don’t. But that’s the reality for a lot of blue collar work places.
