There seems to be the beginings of a rift in MAGA. Bannon vs the Tech Billionares. Which side is more dangerous? [View all]

I personally hope the divide continues and they eat one another up, but if we end up with one side standing and at Trump's side, which would be more dangerous to American democracy? I lean towards Bannon's side being more dangerous but only if he was able to get back and have the Presidents ear, otherwise it's the Tech folks, but the biggest threat would be for them to combine forces and maybe that is what Bannon is really up to. He just wants a seat at the table again. Will the Tech Billionares allow this?

Some thoughts:

Both forces undermine democracy in different ways. Tech billionaires shape society through economic and informational control, while Bannon-style populism attacks the legitimacy of democratic governance itself. The biggest danger is when these forces intersect—when populist movements use tech platforms to spread disinformation, or when tech billionaires manipulate public discourse for personal or political gain.

Here is what AI said but we know who controls ChatGPT

If we’re considering which side is more likely to resemble Hitler’s approach—using authoritarian force to control the population—the Steve Bannon-style populist movement is the more immediate concern.

Why?
Hitler rose to power through populist rhetoric, exploiting economic and social anxieties while vilifying "elites" and scapegoating minorities. Bannon and his allies use similar tactics:

Cult of Personality: Elevating a strongman leader (Trump) as the only one who can "save" the country.
Attacks on Democratic Institutions: Undermining elections, the judiciary, and the press.
Encouraging Political Violence: January 6th showed that Bannon’s movement is willing to use force to achieve its goals.
Militarization of Politics: Calls for "war" against the "deep state" and "enemies within" mirror fascist tactics of consolidating power.
Bannon has openly admired authoritarian regimes, including Hungary's Viktor Orbán and China’s Mao Zedong (for his revolutionary tactics). His vision for America leans toward right-wing authoritarianism, where a nationalist leader rules with an iron grip under the guise of "saving democracy."

Tech Billionaires: A More Subtle Authoritarianism?
While tech elites aren’t likely to establish a dictatorship in the traditional sense, their power could lead to a different kind of authoritarianism—one based on corporate control rather than military force:

Mass Surveillance: Tech companies already track and influence behavior at an unprecedented scale.
Censorship & Thought Control: They shape narratives by deciding who gets a platform and what information spreads.
Economic Dependence: Many people rely on tech giants for jobs, communication, and commerce, making it easy for them to enforce control through non-violent means.
Who’s More Like Hitler?

Bannon’s Movement: More likely to use military/police force, political purges, and open repression—the classic fascist playbook.
Tech Elites: More likely to use soft authoritarianism—economic control, censorship, and social engineering to achieve dominance.
In the short term, Bannon’s movement is the bigger immediate threat, but in the long run, tech billionaires could create an oligarchic dystopia if left unchecked. The worst-case scenario? These two forces combine—where a nationalist strongman uses tech to suppress opposition, just like China’s Xi Jinping does today.

I Just Listened to Steve Bannon’s Show for a Week. What’s Coming Is Clear.
The biggest fight MAGA is about to pick probably won’t be with liberals.
