When I was living in downtown Raleigh several years ago, I was walking the dog, mid-day, and realized a young guy 10-15 feet in front of me had an automatic weapon of some sort slung over his shoulder. We turned around and went the other direction.

There were some episodes around that time of young black couples being followed by 2-3 of these young white guys with weapons.
